This Rescue Pit Bull Did The Best Maternity Photo Shoot You’ll Ever See

A 2-year-old pit bull named Pickles was found wandering around streets alone in early September. She was pregnant, so she couldn’t fend for herself and needed help immediately. Animal control officers quickly saved her and contacted with her owners to bring her home. Sadly, the irresponsible owner didn’t want her anymore and dumped her at the shelter.

Due to being pregnant, Mama Pickles needed more specialized help than the shelter could provide. So, she was moved into Pits & Giggles Rescue, which specializes in caring for pregnant and nursing mama dogs and their puppies. Pickles was so happy to meet her new rescue friends at the rescue. Although her big belly made moving around a little difficult, that couldn’t stop her jumping all over them for attention and kisses.

“She is a ‘pit bull in a China shop,’” Lauren Casteen Sykes, a volunteer with Pits & Giggles Rescue, told The Dodo. “Mama Pickles is all tail wags and smooshy kisses and must be underfoot and in your space at all times! She is definitely a ‘velcro pitty,’ and certainly has a little bit of mischief in her eyes.”

In order to help the dogs and puppies at Pits & Giggles Rescue get adopted, Sykes, the owner of Enchanted Hills Photography along with volunteers took some pictures of them to share it on social media with the hope that someone will love them and give them forever homes. And as soon as seeing Pickles for the first time, everyone knew right away that she was the best candidate for a maternity photo shoot.

“It was hilarious,” Sykes said. “She is ALL belly and a bit clumsy, so getting her posed was not difficult, but getting her to sit still long enough to get a picture was no easy task! Her bows were crooked, falling off and tripping her up — we couldn’t help but laugh, she’s such a cartoon!”

Short after, Mama Pickles gave birth to eight puppies. All of them are fabulous little girls just like their mom. They are healthy and happy, and have many people on the Internet cheering for them.

For these reasons, Sykes and everyone at the rescue decided to do a newborn photo shoot, as a follow-up to the first shoot. And this time, the results were better than anyone could have imagined. Mama Pickles loved posing next to her adorable puppies, so Sykes was able to capture some stunning, adorable photos of the proud mama and the babies.

Now, Pickles is already a great mom, making sure her babies are safe and cared for every time. Once they are ready to be put up for adoption, the shelter will consider adoption applications to find them the best homes.

We are happy because Mama Pickles and her puppies are finally getting the second chance they deserve. Please share this story with your friends and don’t forget to let us know your thoughts in comments!
