Become a parent is one of the most wonderful things in this world. It fills the empty parts of our souls and brings us precious experiences. We have a family with beloved people. We love them unconditionally and they love us back, too. These great people can always give us love and comfort when we love them most. Is there anything better?
However, this seems to be more than impossible to some people. Many couples have struggled for years to have a baby of their own. It is more challenging when single LGBT people want to be a parent. They have fought hard for equality, so their dream may come true one day.
This is the case of Pablo, an avid LGBTQ+ activist and a former Red Cross volunteer from Argentina. The warm-hearted single man always wants to become a dad. And luck finally smiled upon the man. The kindness, tolerance, and understanding of the judge brought Pablo the opportunity.
Pablo has the determination and perseverance to pick up fatherhood. Leaving fear and prejudices behind, he filled out the necessary papers and started the adoption process.
It was about two years until he got a phone call from a family judge in 2019. They said that there was a baby girl to live in a hospital looked for adoption. Mia (name of the girl) was one year and 10 months old and was suffering from a gastrointestinal condition. The poor little girl needed serious medical attention but unluckily, her biological family couldn’t afford it.
Pablo didn’t hesitate to come to the hospital to meet the girl the following day. The moment when a nurse handed the baby to him was so touching. It touched the deepest parts of his heart and it was filled with joy and happiness.
The single gay man and the baby girls started to play with each other and have been father and daughter for 3 years now. He offered little Mia a happy family and she was probably the most precious gift that God gave him.
It’s worth mentioning that Pablo was treated fairly in this situation. There are other four people to be considered for Mia’s adoption. However, Pablo was the final to be chosen. His determination and perseverance impressed the family judge.
In order to give Mia the best care, Pablo quitted his job at the Red Cross and non-profit humanitarian missions where he had worked for years. He loved his jobs but they required too much time away from home. It was a tough decision but worth it. His dream of being a parent came true and he would do everything to do it best.
Now, Mia is a 5-year-old playful and adorable girl. She loves her dad than everything in this world. Just look at the way the father and the daughter stay together. Gay men can be good dads.
Family comes in all forms, shapes, and sizes. Love, kindness, and tolerance can make a happy family. It’s also the true meaning of the word family, right?
