Taking care of children is an important responsibility of a mom. Whether you are going to have your own kid or a foster child, you need to do a thorough preparation to welcome your little angel. This foster mother (Brittany) was waiting for teenage girls to come and stay with her. On her Tiktok, she shared a video of how much excited she was and how many things she had bought for them.
Normally, staying at a new place might cause different uneasy feelings, fear, and confusion. It took a pretty long time for new members to get used to it. But this was when Brittany took an extra leap into making her teen girls feel comfortable and welcomed at the new house. She made some welcome packages and explained everything more specifically in her Tiktok video.
The compassionate foster mom spent the first part of her video talking about the ‘Welcome Baskets’ in which she put toiletries, fuzzy socks, and other necessities. The children were sent emergently to her foster home under protective state custody. As they had to pack quickly, they might not have time to prepare their luggage. That was why Brittany created those ‘necessary’ baskets for her kids. “I didn’t want them to be uncomfortable asking me for things, so I try to provide anything I think they may need,” shared Brittany.
Then, Brittany started talking about how she was going to help them get to know each other. The chosen location was Shake Shack. According to Brittany, in which the children could find on the menu what they like. Moreover, it would be a neutral setting and an ideal outside place to add relaxing layers. “The kids are certainly nervous and apprehensive. I’m a stranger and they don’t know what to expect. Some of them are still dealing with a lot of feelings of hurt and worry. My goal for all of my kids is that they feel welcome and safe while they are in my home.” said Brittany.
As she had explained, the first day at the foster home might not be easy for the kids, so Brittan just did everything to comfort them. Some of the girls came with dirty clothes, others brought along their things in the trash bag. So the caring mom offered to help them do laundry and avoided doing trash bags in her house. Instead, she gifted them with some new duffel bags to put their stuff. In the evening, she and the kids gathered to watch TV while waiting for the ‘lights out’ call to have a good night’s rest. Then, their first day ended in peace and warmth.
With the careful preparation of compassionate foster mom Brittany, any child would feel happy, safe, and relaxed. Her video went viral on the internet with 3.4M likes and 27K comments. People watching her video hoped that Brittany’s foster daughters might enjoy the time staying with her.
