Hugging is a ritual that has been around with us for a long time. Just like us, animals, especially dogs and cats, also give hugs and kisses. They hug each other, and they hug humans they love. They simply snuggle against their beloved buddy, and give other signs of affection such as head bonks and grooming.
Cats hug to show affection, to protect, and to feel protected. It’s another way they show trust, and an excuse to be as close to you as physically possible. Most pet cats enjoy getting hugged, but it has to be on their terms, and when they feel like it.

According to their owner: “Meesha and Bella have realized they are a team. Don’t get me wrong, they still chase, pounce and harass each other, but they also sleep together now! In this video, they’re sleeping on top of my desk. It’s their favorite daytime place to sleep. Since I’m working at my desk during the day they’re guaranteed to get extra hugs and kisses while they nap.”
