Kerith The Golden Retriever Comforts Overworked Firefighters In California

California firefighters have been working tirelessly around the clock to contain wildfires that continue to spread throughout the state. With the hope of boosting the morale of these hardworking firefighters, 2-year-old golden retriever Kerith who is currently a certified crisis response therapy dog comes to visit and comfort the firemen. She does it seriously. She offers snuggles, hugs, and kisses to all firefighters she meets. This simple and pure love during the tough time would be meant a lot to hardworking firefighters out there.

Here is the portrait of Kerith who’s offering her support to overworked firefighters in California

Kerith’s owner Heidi Carman said that the goldie was destined to be a human helper. The 2-year-old good girl was initially trained to be a guide dog for visually impaired people. Kerith’s bubbly and affectionate personality makes her fit the job of a certified therapy dog. And the girl is performing so well.

According to Heidi, Kerith loves humans most, much more than her doggo friends. “It was clear to me from an early age that she would be an excellent therapy dog because of her love and devotion to people,” she spoke to Pop Sugar.

Kerith involved in training for her job at Pet Partners organization and graduated with flying colors. Not long after, the goldie started working at the emergency department of a local hospital in California. She was in charge of visiting patients, their families, and staff of the hospital. “It was love at first sight,” Kerith’s owner Heidi told the media about her immediate love for the firefighters she met. Soon enough, they began inviting Kerith to come to visit the stations they work in.

After the wildfires started spreading throughout California, Heidi knew that the firefighters have been overworking. She thought that Kerith’s love and support would be meant to them. So far, Heidi has taken the therapy dog to the Woodward Fire base camp in Marin County and the Creek Fire base camp in Fresno County—two areas that were affected the most.

Kerith has endless love to humans ever since she was born

Heidi and Kerith arrive at the locations around 6 a.m. At this time, the firefighters are having their breakfast and getting ready for their upcoming 24-hour shifts. The 2-year-old good girl doesn’t hesitate to walk around everyone, offer snuggles, hugs, and kisses to everyone she meets.

Kerith’s owner also said that the golden retriever has an amazing quality of matching people’s energy. “If a firefighter is super excited and lays on the ground so Kerith can roll around and play with them, then Kerith will be higher energy and silly with them. If a firefighter is calm, stressed, and withdrawn, Kerith will be calm as well,” Heidi told Pop Sugar.

And it seems that Kerith gets hooked into her job, enjoying every moment she works

When the human is stressed, Kerith’s owner says that she’ll “sit closely to the individual, sometimes sit on their feet and lean into their body in a way that says, ‘I am here for you as long as you need me.’”

As you may know, Golden retrievers are one of the best breeds to become emotional support animals. They are prized for their friendliness, patience, and affection, making them perfect pets, especially for children and those in need of emotional support. Not just that, golden retrievers are easily trained compared to other breeds.

If you love Kerith, do not hesitate to send her loves and compliments. The good goldie will appreciate this and keep her good job up.
