Bus Driver Helps Two Lost Dogs Get Home And Reunite With Family For Christmas

Last week, Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) driver Jamie Grabowski had just finished her route around midnight when she spotted two stray dogs running alone in the streets. Concerned about the pair either freezing in the cold or getting hit by a car, she stopped her bus and called out to them.

“Hey, you two! You need to go home right now,” Jamie yells. “C’mon, c’mon inside!” She then opened the front door and let the canines onto the bus. After that, she contacted MCTS dispatchers to notify them about her unusual situation.

Jamie sat and played with the dogs until a police officer arrived to them. He transported them to Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission, the only facility in the area that takes in stray dogs.

As it turns out, the dogs had somehow gotten out of their yard and travelled more than four kilometres away from their family home. The family had been searching for them all night. And thanks to Jamie, the dogs were safely returned to their family just in time for Christmas.

“It turns out that the dogs had somehow gotten out of their family’s yard two-and-a-half miles away from where Jamie found them,” transit officials wrote. “Jamie, an avid animal lover who jokes that she’s a ‘dog whisperer,’ said she is happy she was in the right place at the right time to help the two ‘very good boys.’

The family of two dogs met Jamie this week to thank her for helping their babies get home. The MCTS shared photos of the reunion on social media: “MCTS bus driver Jamie Grabowski got to reunite today with the two pups she found. She also met the dogs’ grateful family for the first time!”

It’s a Christmas miracle for two dogs in Milwaukee, and the dogs’ owners are praising Grabowski for her kindness and are grateful to have their pups back just in time for Christmas.
