This species is a small songbird of the northern Andes. They distribute in Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, and Brazil.

They prefer living in humid forests and feed mainly on fruit and nectar. It’s interesting that these birds spread seeds spreading seeds wherever they go. This helps a lot in fostering new trees.

Their breeding season begins in March. Female beryl-spangled tanagers use moss to build their nests in the fork of a tree. They lay 2-5 eggs in the nest and incubate them for 13-15 days.
The females then feed the hatchlings for 14-20 days, until fully fledged.
