Little Seal Pokes Head From Hole To Look For Help After Getting Stuck In Rocks

Last week, when people were walking along a beach on St Mary’s Island in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, England, they noticed an adorable baby seal poking its head out from a hole. At first, they thought she was fine, and she was just chilling on the rocks for a while. But until finally, it was clear that she got trapped between rocks and couldn’t manage to get out.

They immediately reported to St Mary’s Seal Watch and volunteers from the wildlife organisation went to save her. When the volunteers arrived at the scene, they assumed that the seal got trapped while attempting to get across the rocks.

“Normally when seals appear stuck, they will manage to get themselves out, but this poor thing was well and truly trapped,” St. Mary’s Seal Watch wrote on Facebook.

The little seal waited and watched patiently as the rescuers and volunteers worked together to help her. With experience dealing with similar situations, they were finally able to lift her out the hole and move her to safety.

They wrapped her face with a towel to reduce stress and to prevent it biting. “We couldn’t just pull [her] out as this could result in injury to either the seal or us,” the rescue wrote.

Thankfully, the seal was completely unharmed after her accident. However, the rescuers quickly checked her to ensure that she had not sustained any serious injuries. Once everything was fine, they released her back into the sea.

“Luckily this little one was spotted early and with volunteers on site we were able to rescue it swiftly,” the rescue wrote.
