15+ Unbearably Cute Sloth Pics To Celebrate The International Sloth Day

October 20 is International Sloth Day, it was created in 2010 by the AIUNAU Foundation, a non-profit conservation and wildlife organization based in Colombia. The aim of this day is to honor the adorable slow-moving, tree-dwelling, and leaf-eating mammals.

According to Wikipedia, sloths are arboreal mammals noted for slowness of movement and for spending most of their lives hanging upside down in the trees of the tropical rainforests of South America and Central America. The sloth is so named because of its very low metabolism and deliberate movements, sloth being related to the word slow. Sloths have a stomach with four compartments and it takes them almost a month to digest one meal. Sloths are the slowest mammals in the world. Fact. And after going through these pictures, you’ll probably think that they’re also the cutest mammals in the world.

Today is October 22 but we still want to share pictures of these cute sloths and show us that sometimes being slow is not the worst thing. Another important aspect of celebrating International Sloth Day is allowing yourself to just let go and relax. We live in a very fast-paced world and we’re always in a rush. On International Sloth Day, take the time to slow down. And who could possibly teach a better lesson about how to relax than the sloth? Exactly!

Happy International Sloth Day! Scroll down to enjoy and please share with your friends and family!
