A Sick Cat Close To Death Was Given A Second Chance To Live

Samuel, an affectionate, black-and-white kitty, was rescued from a small carrier where the skinny cat had been trapped for most of his life. Samuel was brought into BARC Animal Shelter in Houston with badly malnourished. His eyes were swollen shut from mange and he was suffering from a long list of expensive medical issues. His skin was also flaking, and he had pressure wounds from being locked up. An employee who didn’t want to end Samuel’s life in this way posted a photo of him online.

Lucky for Samuel, Leslie Raines, a vet tech in the Houston area, was home sick that day and stumbled upon his picture. Soon, Samuel moved into a foster home with Leslie Raines and the slow process of his recovery began. Months later, Samuel’s thick black and white fur grew in but he still had fears to overcome. In just a year, Samuel transformed into the handsome, fluffy cat he meant to be.

After few years, Raines started looking for a new home for Samuel. After a rest of time for search. Raines met Bryan Smith. Leslie was impressed by Bryan’s ability to soothe Samuel, but she still wasn’t convinced he was the right owner until the kitty gave her a sign. The little kitten found his forever home with a man who had lost his 13-year-old cat to cancer.

Samuel started to be a Friend with Bryan. He has been living with Bryan for over a year now and everything’s been going great. He loves his new life.

The cat was also found to have pressure wounds from being confined to a small space for a long time.

Samuel went from death row to a veterinarian’s office.

Under their tender care, Samuel gradually put on weight and regained his vision. But he still had to learn how to be a cat.

The cat disliked meeting potential adopters— but all that changed when he met Bryan.

Now the cat and his new dad are healing together and living happily with each other’s company.
