Thomas suffered from serious illnesses, including Perthes disease, Hirschsprung disease, heart murmur, underactive thyroid, hiatus hernia, stomach reflux, and severe anemia.

When he was 4 years old, he underwent an 8-hour operation because of a hiatus hernia close to his heart. Luckily, the operation was a success.

Age the age of 8, however, his condition became worse and his chances of survival are less than 30 percent. But the young boy made up a miracle.

Another challenge came to little Thomas when he was 9 years old. He started feeling the pain in his knees. But it turned out to be the Perthes disease in his hip, and he was brought to the operating room for surgery.

This was not all, the surgery couldn’t correct it all. The hip disease spread to the other hip, which meant more surgery. Thomas suffered this pain for 14 years until he had a total hip replacement at 28 years old.
