Deacon, around ten, living in Detroit, got bitten by a dog while he was playing with three siblings and some other kids. You might think he was frightened, but what he did next is actually what you can’t expect. Deacon was not concerned for his severe injury but for his family and friends. He bravely protected them.
That was a regular day for Deacon, his siblings and friends playing outside his house until the kids caught sight of a group of loose dogs. One of the vicious dogs bit Deacon’s leg. While rigid in pain, Deacon was still worried about his siblings and his friends.
Without hesitation, the boy jumped in between the loose dogs to prevent them from attacking the other kids. Luckily, the dogs got away, but the attack sent him to a hospital for urgent surgery.
“Deacon came hobbling in, and there were chunks of skin falling off and there was blood everywhere,” Deacon’s mom told the media. At the Detroit Children’s Hospital, the young boy underwent successful surgery and was expected to recover soon.
That day, his father was by aside the little boy. Sharing with WJBK News, he said his son’s first words after the surgery was to ask about the kids. “He was just asking ‘Hey Daddy is Kingston okay? Did Hensely and Coco make it back in the house okay? Is mommy okay?’ Here he is with a real serious injury and all he can do is think
Things could have ended up worse on that faithful day if Deacon hadn’t shown his courage to face the danger and sacrifice himself to protect his family and friends. Deacon’s selfless attitude made his parents proud of him. They set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical bills. Now, a month after the incident, the young boy heals up with positive energy and attitude.
