Tiffany, a field agent for Michigan Humane, was driving when she saw a small gray animal shaking near the freeway median. She got closer and spotted a kitten huddled on an orange plastic bag in the snow and sludge.
Tiffany stopped her car and picked the shivering kitten up. When she put it into the car, it immediately snuggled into her for warmth. Despite living in the busy and dangerous road, the kitten had managed to survive miraculously.
“Aside from being chilled, he was in good shape!” Anna Chrisman, media manager for Michigan Humane, told The Dodo. “And he was very excited to get somewhere warm and receive lots of pets. He began purring shortly after his rescue and hasn’t stopped!”
You can watch the video of Lodge’s rescue here:
The 4-month-old shorthaired cat, now named Lodge, has large, expressive eyes that make everyone at the Detroit shelter fall in love with him. When the cat realized that he was safe, his personality began to shine. He is a snuggle bug who loves to be held and cuddled.
Since being rescued, Lodge can’t get enough love and affection: “Lodge is a lovely and sweet cat with a bit of a sassy streak,” Chrisman said. “He enjoys being held and loves to play!”
The shelter is looking for a forever home for Lodge. They are checking adoption applications to find the best home for him. But no matter where he goes, it’s certain that his new family will be happy to get plenty of hugs and cuddles from him.
