Here’s A Recap Of The First Half Of 2020 That We Need To Read

2020, for many people, might be the worst year of their lifetimes. This is in part because of the coronavirus outbreak in early this year. In addition to the pandemic, this year has seen sad and bad news such as the wildfires ravaging across Australia, the escalating conflict between Iran and the U.S, earthquakes in Turkey and the Caribbean, and police brutality resulting in racial tensions in the US.

Recently, an Imgur user skeeli614, shared a summary of the first half of 2020. The post has gone viral and has been upvoted 5,692 times on the platform.

This recap of what 2020 has been like so far is like the year itself: tormenting, slow, and never-ending. But no matter what happened in the half of 2020, let’s give it a few more chances. Perhaps the second half of 2020 could make a dramatic turnaround. This a leap year, after all. Maybe what it needs is a leap of faith from our side!

The user said that he was happy so many people enjoyed the post. “I was actually just browsing through Facebook and came across the post and thought the people of Imgur might find it as humorous as I did.” The original author of the meme has not yet been identified.

He said that “In the 30 years I’ve been alive, I have to say it’s my least favorite year.” He also hopes we can expect a little more “humility, civility, and unity from the world.”

This summary is part of the “But I Got the Van” meme that stems from a memorable quote uttered by the character Luis in the 2015 Marvel superhero film Ant-Man. According to Know Your Meme, the meme is a multi-panel image macro comprised of screenshots of Luis reciting the dialogue. The scene became a fan favorite over the next year. Over time, the scene inspired a series of memes about optimism in the face of intense adversity.
