The Little Mermaid is one of the best Disney movies that most of girls like. Ariel has a beautiful flowing hair and the singing voice of an angel. So it’s not surprising that our little girls always want to be a mermaid like Ariel. And this is no exception to a young girl named Aspen.
All Aspen wants is to be a mermaid or to get as close to being a mermaid as possible. So, on her eighth birthday, she didn’t want the usual ‘birthday candles type’ of celebration. Instead, she wanted to have a day where she could live her mermaid dreams.
Understanding her wish, her grandma decided to give her a surprise. She asked Desirae Deal, the professional photographer of Lamar, Arkansas-based Desirae Deal Photography to make a mermaid photo shoot for her niece. The photographer agreed immediately and was excited to use her skill to turn Aspen’s dream into reality.
The photoshoot was going really well, but when Aspen’s dad, Michael, came at the end of the session, things got even better. Aspen asked her dad if he would play in the water with her. But Deal came with a great and crazy idea. She invited Michael to join the photoshoot, and he didn’t hesitate in the slightest.
“I said ‘Well you know I think I have a mermaid tail that he could wear,’” she recalled. “It just went from there. Once she knew it was a possibility, there was no changing her mind.”
The dad didn’t hesitate to wear a shell bra and fishtail and become a girly girl and. He confidently dressed the mermaid costume and did every pose he was asked to do just to make his beloved daughter happy. Deal and her team were more than happy to do the shoot, and it was the most fun session they had ever done.
Deal then shared the sweet photos of the two mermaids on her Facebook page, and they quickly went viral and got positive responses. The photographer didn’t forget to conclude the post with a beautiful reminder to all parents.
She hopes people will look at how willing Michael was to make his daughter happy and take a second to play with their children. He didn’t care if he would look funny wearing the mermaid costume, the most important thing for him is that he made his daughter’s day. Dads like him are truly worth celebrating.
