Our dogs are very smart. They can remember familiar road routines and make their own adventure. And this keeps their owners amazed. Jem, the dog in today’s story is a great example. The good girl walks herself to the doggy resort and spa. She is eager to see her friends here.
Jem, a 5-year-old shepherd mix, really enjoys her time at Happy Tails Pet Resort and Spa. That’s why she goes to the daycare center on her own when her parents didn’t keep an eye on her in a few minutes.
On early Saturday morning, when Marty Carriere, the owner of Happy Tails Pet Resort and Spa was preparing for a busy day, he saw a customer at the door. It was Jem who came quite so early. The adorable dog was waiting here patiently and pushed her wet nose through the gates.
Carriere didn’t see any cars or people outside. It meant that the dog got there without the companion of her mom and dad. Jem goes to the day care four times a week before the quarantine.
“I was pretty shocked when I opened the door and there was a dog there — and one of our regulars, too. So I was like, ‘Come on in, Jem. Let’s play,’” Carriere said.
Carriere then opened up the door for Jem to come in. The dog said good morning to the man with her wagging tail.

It was too early at that time, so Carrier called Jem’s parents. They came over, picked her home for breakfast, then brought her back to the daycare center.
As it turned out, Jem broke out of her yard as the gate wasn’t closed properly. She can’t wait to see her friends and want to spend the rest of her day playing and hanging out with her friends here.
It’s adorable that the dog started howling right after stepping into the center. She was so excited and didn’t want to hide it.
“She comes in and does this little howling thing that not a lot of the other dogs do. She gets in and starts howling right away, she’s just so excited to be here,” Carriere said.
