Dog Overlooked At Shelter For 2531 Days Still Hopes That Someone Will Adopt Him

We all know that dogs live shorter lives than humans. Therefore, we always respect each moment we have with our dogs, enjoy this unique and special relationship, and try to do everything we can to keep them safe and happy.

However, not everybody thinks like this. There are a lot of cases where dogs have been abandoned, left all alone starving to death or waiting for their owners to come back and pick them in vain. And the most heartbreaking story is a dog waiting for her family for 2,531 days.

The average life expectancy of a dog might be around ten years of age, but this dog had to spend 7 years at shelter, waiting for someone to love and adopt her.

She is a Terrier mix named Dahlia, and she has been living at the Humane Society in Santa Barbara in California since she was 6 months old. She had spent her whole life at the shelter because luck just was not on her side. Although the shelter tried their best to find a home for Dahlia, she was overlooked and had to see all her friends get adopted one by one during 7 years.

As the time passed by and Dahlia could not find a home yet, the shelter decided to do something else. They used the help of social media to help Dahlia find a forever home.

One of the volunteers in the shelter uploaded a video of Dahlia in the hopes that it would get someone to open their home to her. They also described that she’s a sweet, loving and loyal dog who likes to snuggle and likes to please.

“She is a really sweet, smart, loving, loyal big lap dog … Looking for a great single pet home for her. She will make someone really happy!”

Please share Dahlia's video with your friends and family! Lets find this loving girl a #foreverhome. Contact the Santa Barbara Humane Society to meet this loving girl.

Thankfully, a man from Orange County saw the video and drove immediately to the shelter to meet and adopt Daliah. And now the poor dog found a new home where she will be happy with her owner’s love and care.

The Humane Society updated people with this statement, “We are over the moon! For all of you that asked about how Dahlia is doing…she has found her forever home!! Thank you to everyone that shared her story and reached out to us!”

We’re glad to know that Dahlia found a forever home after 7 long years. As dog lovers, we strongly believe every dog should be adopted into happy homes, and not spend their days in a shelter. So, if you’re looking to get a dog, please consider adopting a dog from a shelter!

Please share this post to encourage others to adopt overlooked dogs like Dahlia.
